Our free entry midweek live show this Wednesday is an absolute belter! Five great bands, including the hotly-tipped Morning Smoke headlining. Here’s the full line-up…
7.45pm THIEVES
East London 4-piece Thieves originated when singer/guitarist Luke Shield and guitarist Mike Whitaker united over a shared love of booze soaked blues and rock ‘n’ roll. After writing and recording an album within two months of starting, the duo officially brought in Elliot Loughbridge on bass and Tom Triggs on drums to complete the line-up.

8.30pm LISTEN LISSE
Singer/guitarist Lisa McKendrick and drummer/bassist Mardi Williams combine to create what they describe as Apocalyptic Art Rock. Lisa says: “I love the attitude in punk music but also the mystery in folk music and the beats of rock music and 80′s rock/pop”, often creating layers to the music live by looping her vocals and guitar, With a strong visual aesthetic too, Lisa has created her own videos to several Listen Lisse tracks.

9.15pm SNORK
Sweet female fronted outrage set to a banging groove! “They aren’t just your average punk band. At first glance, you may draw some parallels with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs; female vocalist, one guitar, drums and a distinct lack of actual bass. Lead singer Elle Revel is a huge personality to watch live; barking out the vocals with the aggyness we’ve come to expect from true punk rock and dishing out a good deal of banter with the audience too. The riffs are big, the vocals are large and the beats are massive! Their stage presence is explosive with Elle literally giving no shits, Clem dishing out dangerous guitar licks and Simone destroying those drums. The music is balls-to-the-ground awesome and as musicians they are tremendous.” – SLUDGE REMIX

10.00pm LITTLE DEATH MACHINE
Taking their name from the Chapman Brothers’ sculpture, Little Death Machine is a collaboration between musicians Daniel Cross and Jamie Goff and visual artist Jamie Kendall. Atmospheric dark rock is the result, fusing pulsing drums, uplifting electronica and charging guitar riffs that harness the spirit of Nine Inch Nails with the mood of Depeche Mode whilst making something very much their own. Impressive visuals are a key element of their aesthetic and atmospheric live show, as evidenced by the videos released to accompany first two singles ‘Hit Me’ – https://www.youtube.com/

10.45pm MORNING SMOKE
Our headliners this week are Brighton four-piece Morning Smoke, riding a wave of praise for their 5-track EP ‘In Euphoria’, the latest single from which, ‘Blue Ribbons’, is currently Amazing Radio’s ‘Record Of The Week.
“Morning Smoke posses the potential to be genuine contenders, based solely on substance not vapid, artful hype… imagine a scuzzier visceral version of Foals channelling the spirit of Ian Curtis whilst mining 4AD’s back catalogue. Tunes ‘DYWD’ and ‘In Euphoria’ are genuinely stirring numbers, so much so that it feels almost as if guitar music has been woken from its torpor with a 50,000-volt shock to the system, such is the incendiary exhilaration evident within Morning Smoke’s music.” – The VPME
